Minimalist Chair Furniture 'Leaf' by ilio

The Janus Chairs by Ryder Architecture

Created as one of six sculptural shelters, this interesting Janus Chairs furniture ideas is created by Ryder Architecture and have been installed at Kielder Water & Forest Park in Northumberland in North East England.



The three one piece chairs (H2.3mxW1.2mxL2.3m, H2.7mxW1.8mxL3.1m, H3.3mx W2.4mxL3.8m) can be rotated toward a favourite view, into the sun, away from the wind or toward each other to form a family group.



They are made from laminated Douglas fir from the Scottish borders with polished stainless steel backs. Facing inward they are the closed bud of a flower, rotated outward they come into full bloom.

The Möbius Chair by Frans Schrofer

The mobius chair is a circular wooden chair designed by dutch designer Frans Schrofer of Studio Schrofer for a design competition conducted by Fritz Becker, a German manufacturer of formed wood products.



From Studio Schrofer:

Responding to Fritz Becker’s competition, Frans Schrofer submitted 3 chair designs, one of which was a rough pencil sketch of an undulating circular form with convex and concave lines, pushing the limits of wood lamination and 3D forming. The chair was named Möbius for its resemblance of a continuous and twisted ribbon of wood. Because of it’s sheer complexity, we were pretty convinced it wouldn’t be selected, but we wanted the chance to challenge the commercial chair designs, lamination process, and push 3D technology “way out there”.



To our utter amazement, the Möbius was not only a finalist, but also selected to be among the 25 to be prototyped and displayed during the Interzum 2009 exhibition. Becker’s craftsmen applied a warm grained veneer on the circular contour of the chair – the result is stunning.

Elaxa Chair Designed by Velichko Velikov

This nice bended wood chair "Elaxa Chair" is a new seating ideas created by Velichko Velikov. Elaxa Chair is bended wood - parts are 5X1 cm. Metal for the joints, seat and the base.

The Flow Stool designed by Kenneth Young

The Flow Chair is a new seating design created by Sydney, Australia based designer Kenneth Young. Kenneth says: ‘Flow’ is a study into line and surface in relation to the human body. The overall aesthetic can be characterised by fluid and dynamic lines creating a modern, sleek and unique appearance.

The leading leg which also functions as a temporary foot rest flows from the rear of the seat pan to the ground. The intent of this is to visually connect the lower back of an occupant to their feet while sitting on the stool.



This creates an embracing aesthetic between the stool and occupant whilst maintaining an elegant and minimal design. The flowing brush strokes of Chinese calligraphy are also of influence to the design with combination of clean lines and dramatic changes in direction. Flow is constructed from laminated plywood and finished with a durable urethane coating. Plywood gives the design a vibrant and warm feel to compliment the dynamic lines of the stool.

The Afra Armchair | Francesco Rota for Paola Lenti

Italian designer Francesco Rota has completed the outdoor furniture Afra armchair for Paola Lenti. The armchair is designed for outdoor environments, and is inspired by an overturned African basket, featuring a braid designed to provide a draining effect for quick drying.

The Infinity Bench by Carl Fredrik Svenstedt

Carl Fredrik Svenstedt has projected the Infinity Bench furniture for lerival and has just been presented in ICFF 2009. The organic shape of this bench / table / recliner is the result of clever mathematics. The rings are serial, concentric hoops, like the layers of an onion, cut from less than 3.4 m² of flat furniture-grade plywood using CNC technology. The variations in diameter of the rings create a structurally stable, undulating sequence.



Carl Fredrik Svenstedt, a Paris-based architect, works on international architecture projects and industrial design, and everything in-between. He believes in the continuum of the designed world, and designs across the whole spectrum of scale: from the macro city down to the tangible, hand-held object

Twin Chairs Tree Trunk Inspired by Euga Design

Euga Design has designed a Tree Trunk inspired Chair called Twin Chairs offer an interesting combination of stackability and Yin/Yang-type unity. The Tree chair is made of oak scraps covered in oak veneer and invert into one another to store compactly and beautifully. When not in use as a chair, the hollow bottoms create a sneaky little storage space; when stacked, it looks like something that we'd like to hug.

Tre di Una Chair by Hunn Wai

Hunn Wai has designed Tre di Una ”Three from One”,a family of chairs created from the components of a generic wooden one by using plastic clay as the joining material. Hailing from Singapore, The Designer of this Tre di Una Chair "Hunn Wai" (1980) has just graduated from the IM Masters programme of the renowned Design Academy Eindhoven, under the direction of DROOG Design co-founder Gijs Bakker.



The rigidity of an iconic chair is broken down by this process to result in unique and playful pieces with new identities and functions; suggesting possibilities and new aesthetics.

The furniture merges stylish design with sensuous pattern as the furniture made out of natural fibers steals the spotlight with its intricate forms.
