Emeco Preview on Milan Design Week 2008

The US based aluminum chair company emeco will be debuting 'nine-o', a collection of chairs and stools designed by the late ettore sottsass at the salone del mobile. the company is best known for their iconic all-aluminum '1006 navy' chair originally built for world war two submarines.

These new sottsass chairs were the last chairs he designed before his death on december 31, 2007. as a long time admirer of the navy chair, sottsass got inspiration for the new collection from the orange cushion he always placed on his navy chair at home in milan. sottsass claimed that the 'nine-o' was one of the best chairs his studio ever designed.

Since 1944, when Wilton Dinges envisioned manufacturing sculptured masterworks, Emeco has been focused on a single goal: combining the best materials with the highest skilled craftsman. Quality isn't an accident. It is about process and people. Dave Lake started in 1961. He loves his job. It's hard work with a lot of elbow grease and pride, "but seeing each handcrafted chair makes it all worth it."

Colorful pieces of Chair by Anna ter Haar

Hmm, What do you think about this chair..?? is this a great piece of art or just a common one..?? well i dunno, for me its just an art expression from the designer. the color is just too contrash for me and don't wanna put it in my whistlist, anyway these colorful pieces of furniture was designed by Anna ter Haar were exposed during the international design fair Salone del Mobile, which takes place in Milan from April 16 until April 21.

The white chairs appear to be bleeding rainbows of wet paint, the fantastic hues dripping from holes drilled in the corners.
